About the project

The sale of the book ”Tom and Veronica Experience Tanzania” aims at creating access to readers for children in Tanzania. It aims at giving children who grow up under conditions of life that are very different from what American children know of - an insight into our world. Finally, it aims at providing American children with an insight into the world in which Tanzanian children live – for good and bad.
The book came into existence by coincidence. But also because of a good heart, the love of children and a wish to make a difference.

The Coincidence was that a group of people with different backgrounds, convergent interests and the urge to do something went on the same holiday. There - among lions, elephants, fish eagles and baboons on the savannah in Tanzania - it all began in the summer of 2008. There, the writer, a translator and an entrepreneur meet. There we had the idea of a book that could become a project for the benefit of children in Tanzania as well as in Denmark.

The Good Heart is that since then even more people have supported the idea of publishing the book; both the writer, the translators, the graphic designer, the printing company and a number of others have voluntarily assisted in creating the book you are now holding in your hands.

We wish to take the opportunity to thank all the people who helped us realizing this project. It is so nice and positive to experience when people do something for and with each other.

The Love of Children is expressed by the fact that this book is based on children’s adventures. It was written for children, and the book has been distributed via children’s commitment, will and desire to do something for each other and help each other.

Children are often open-minded, observing, wondering and honest when they express themselves. They ask questions that are so comprehensive or spontaneous and straightforward that sometimes grown-ups cannot easily come up with an answer.

The Wish to Make a Difference is our conviction that being able to read is one of the greatest things that you can achieve for yourself and give to other people. When you become able to read, you gain access to an infinite amount of knowledge, a fantastic and stimulating fantasy world, a vast opportunity to acknowledge things, a variety of opinions and a profound and embracing universe of feelings.
